The Greek word kataklysmos,
occurring both in the Septuagint and in the New Testament is so graphic
it hardly needs interpretation. It is a word familiar to all --
CATACLYSM -- which denotes absolute finality by violent
destruction. It occurs in Matthew 24:38-39; Luke 17: 26-27; II
Peter 2:5 and in a slightly different form (kataklystheis) in II
Peter 3:6.
