“With the establishment of
civilization in Shinar—the same civilization that gave us the
Gilgamesh Epic, a corrupted version of the Flood story—it is no real stretch
to say that just as Gilgamesh replaced Noah in the Sumerian version, so
Mt. Cudi replaced the inaccessible Mt. Ararat as the site of the
Ark. Mt. Cudi is, after all, directly north of the plain of
Shinar, and would have provided a convenient nearby locale to
connect with the tradition.”
