Interestingly, there is evidence
that the dwelling place of the supreme Canaanite god El was
located at the source of the river Euphrates next to Mount Ararat.
In the Hittite-Canaanite Elkunirša myth, Elkunirša (= El, creator
of the earth) lives in a tent at the source of the Mala
river (Euphrates). This must also be in Armenia, since
El characteristically dwells on a mountain in the Ugaritic
texts.
