Before Urartu and under some of
the same sites, the Early Transcaucasian Culture made an
impact archaeologically in a similar area from the Araxes and
Kura River valleys to southwest of Lake Van from the late Chalcolithic to
the beginning of the Iron Age. While there is no textual writing
available, there remains the possibility that some of this culture or
the in-between Hurrian culture was referred to by a similar
